Hurricane Helene made landfall in the Big Bend region of Florida on the evening of September 26, 2024 as a powerful category 4 hurricane, resulting in life-threatening storm surges, heavy rainfall and up to 140 MPH winds. Homes, businesses, and infrastructure are facing catastrophic damage and over 1 million homes in Florida faced power outages, with another 2 million experiencing outages across Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and southern Virginia. Severe flooding has permeated Florida's northwestern coast, with the storm moving inland and ravaging multiple western North Carolina communities. Asheville, NC became virtually inaccessible due to flooding and storm damage, and the village of Chimney Rock has been destroyed, along with several others. The storm also made a devastating impact across multiple Eastern Tennessee communities, leaving significant damage and destruction in its wake. Communities in Georgia, South Carolina, and southern Virginia are also experiencing impacts due to severe flooding. More than 200 storm-related deaths have been reported, with many others still missing. Relief efforts are underway, and the following nonprofits are providing critical resources in the form of emergency shelter, food, water, medical treatment, and supplies to those impacted. We are profoundly saddened by the devastating destruction caused by Hurricane Helene, resulting in loss of life and intensifying humanitarian needs in the Southeastern U.S., including especially Florida’s Gulf Coast, the Big Bend region, and Western North Carolina. As an organization committed to giving to those less fortunate than ourselves, AMG has committed to a $50,000 gift toward humanitarian support, benefiting the charitable organizations below that are providing immediate aid to those directly impacted by this natural disaster. AMG will match donations to the AMG Supporting Victims of Hurricane Helene Fund or any of the individual organizations on a 1:1 basis, up to $250,000, cumulatively, and donations to these will not count against your annual gift-matching limit of $5,000.

Hurricane Irma has caused catastrophic damage throughout the Caribbean and Florida, leaving the islands uninhabitable and Florida under water and without electricity. In response, Bright Funds has established the Hurricane Irma Disaster Response and Recovery Fund. This Fund is comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits providing disaster response in the region. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations’ initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. We have selected organizations providing assistance with immediate relief needs, including rescue efforts and medical assistance in the Caribbean and Florida. Hurricane Ian, a powerful Category 4 storm, made landfall in Florida on September 28th. Millions of Floridians were urged to evacuate and thousands are left without electricity, running water, and access to emergency medical care and supplies. Hurricane Ian's high winds and catastrophic flooding have caused devastation to several Florida communities, and maximum recovery efforts are underway. The organizations selected for this Fund are currently on the ground in Florida organizing direct relief efforts and providing shelter, medical care, food, and supplies to survivors of the storm. Hurricane Idalia made landfall on the Gulf Coast of Florida on August 30, 2023 as a Category 3 hurricane. The Florida coast is expected to experience some of the highest winds in recent history, with record-breaking storm surges and flooding, resulting in catastrophic damage. Tornado warnings are also in effect across central and northern Florida. Evacuation orders were issued in nearly 30 Florida counties and recovery efforts will be massive. Hurricane Idalia is projected to continue up the coast towards the Carolinas in the coming days. The following organizations are providing necessary relief resources including food, shelter, and medical services, as well as other recovery efforts. Your donation to this Fund will support these organizations' shared mission of providing relief to Floridians impacted by this hurricane.
